Effects and side effects of medicines<\/strong><\/p>

When you take medication, both the normal effect and the side effects can affect your functioning. Use of medication can therefore pose a danger to both you and your environment. In addition, the use of medication is indispensable information for care providers in an emergency. Missing this information when providing assistance can lead to life-threatening situations.<\/p>

For your own safety and that of others: Use medication consciously. <\/em><\/p>

Which medication is involved?<\/strong><\/p>

In principle, this concerns any medication prescribed by a doctor. There are a number of main groups with special attention:<\/p>

  • Soothing medications, also called tranquilizers. Valium and librium are an example of this.<\/li>
  • Blood thinners; of these there are several with different effects.<\/li>
  • Medication for psychological complaints: Antidepressants and antipsychotics.<\/li>
  • Painkillers; especially those painkillers prescribed by doctor.<\/li><\/ul>

    Written explanation<\/strong><\/p>

    When prescribing the medication, ask your doctor for a written statement if you are going offshore. If you are unsure whether you are suitable to work offshore when taking medication, please contact your company doctor or medical examiner.<\/p>

    If you go offshore with medicines, we kindly request you to indicate this yourself at:<\/p>

    • The medic (if any)<\/li>
    • The offshore installation manager (OIM)<\/li><\/ul>

      Privacy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

      With the entry into force of the AVG (General Data Protection Regulation), the privacy rules have been tightened. However, it remains important to know when you are taking high-risk medicines.
