Rijkswaterstaat message: The Kooy Bridge closed from November 7

From Thursday, November 7, 8:00 PM to Monday, December 8, 6:00 AM The N99 between the Van Ewijcksluis roundabout and De Kooybrug is closed to through traffic in both directions. We would like to inform you about the specific measures and invite you to the online information meeting on September 9th.

What are we going to do
We make the N99 safer between the Kooy Bridge and the Van Ewijksluis roundaboutWe're doing this by paving the shoulder, adapting the roundabout, and replacing the asphalt. After the work, the speed limit will be 80 km/h (subject to a traffic order). These measures will make the road safer for all users: motorists, cyclists, and local residents. At the same time, we'll prevent the need for emergency repairs in the future.

Traffic decision 80 km/h
To convert the N99 to an 80 km/h road, a traffic decision is required. A traffic decision is a decision by a road authority (in this case, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management) to modify certain elements of a road. The application was published in the Government Gazette on August 14, 2025 .

Diversion and accessibility
The N99 will be closed in both directions between the Van Ewijcksluis roundabout and De Kooybrug during the work. A detour via the N249, N248, and N9 has been set up for through traffic, with an expected additional travel time of approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

Balgweg and Touwslagersweg
Balgweg will remain accessible to residents, emergency services, local traffic, and buses. Touwslagersweg will be reserved for residents near the N99 and local traffic during the work. These roads are not suitable as a detour due to limited capacity and safety concerns. We urge all road users to follow the official detour.
