With 450 jobs spread over about 30 companies, Den Helder Airport is an important economic hub within Den Helder. Conny van den Hoff has been working at the civilian airport for 32 years, the last 15 years as director. She rightly calls it “Schiphol in miniature”, because just like the big boys, the airport offers everything: customs, military police, security, baggage checks with x-ray scans and passport controls. “But,” Conny adds, “we even go one step further, every helicopter passenger receives a survival suit and life jacket, because they fly and land on platforms at sea.”
