Den Helder, October 27, 2025 – Den Helder Airport BV is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jaap Bond as a new member and chairman of the Supervisory Board. At the same time, Den Helder Airport BV is bidding farewell to Mr. Jan van der Zouw, who has served on the Supervisory Board since 2011 and as chairman since 2013. During this period, he made a significant contribution to the development of the airport and its unique civil-military position. Den Helder Airport BV is very grateful to Mr. Van der Zouw for his years of dedication and commitment.
With the appointment of Jaap Bond, the airport gains a chairman with extensive administrative experience and strong regional ties. He is currently acting mayor of Bergen, and previously served as a member of the Provincial Executive of North Holland, where he was already actively involved in the development of Den Helder Airport. His experience and vision provide confidence for the airport's continued growth and future sustainability. Mr. Bond will also serve as chairman of the supervisory board of Den Helder Airport CV.
Den Helder Airport is the home base for all offshore helicopter operations in the North Sea and, together with De Kooy Maritime Air Base, plays a key role in maritime patrol and search and rescue. Thanks to close collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the port, and educational institutions, the airport is a hub for the regional economy. The coming years will focus on sustainability and innovation, with opportunities for the deployment of drones, unmanned aircraft systems, and electric aircraft for both civil and military applications.
Under the leadership of Jaap Bond, Den Helder Airport BV is working with its partners to further strengthen its position as the Dutch Offshore Aviation Mainport and as a driver of broad prosperity in the region.
