There will be various night closures of the Kooybrug in the N99 in February. For example, the bridge will be closed at night from Monday evening 17 February to Wednesday morning 19 February. This also applies from Monday evening 24 February to Saturday morning 1 March 2025. The bridge will be closed to road traffic in both directions during these nights. This traffic will be diverted and must take into account extra travel time.
During the first 2 night closures, repairs are carried out on the ballast block in the basement of the bridge. During the 5 night closures after that, test work is carried out and the road is closed and the bridge is opened to allow tank and silo builder Oostwouder to pass over the Noordhollandsch Kanaal.
Night closures
The bridge is closed to all road traffic in both directions. The closures begin at 8:00 p.m. and end the following morning at 5:00 a.m. This means they begin 2 hours earlier than previous night closures (which began at 10:00 p.m.).
- Monday evening 17 February to Wednesday morning 19 February: no passage for through road traffic, pedestrians and (moped) cyclists. Emergency and aid services and buses of Connexxion have passage via the marine terrain.
- Monday evening 24 February to Saturday morning 1 March 2025: no passage for through road traffic, pedestrians and (moped) cyclists. Emergency and aid services and buses of Connexxion have passage via the marine terrain.
During this period, Rijkswaterstaat will also be carrying out night-time work on the asphalt of the A7 between Den Oever and Wieringenwerf. Traffic must take into account traffic disruption and extra travel time.
During the day
The work in the 2e phase of the renovation of the Kooybrug will last until Saturday morning, March 1. During this phase, the parallel carriageway (Touwslagersweg) of the Kooybrug will be renovated. Of the two lanes on the main carriageway (N99), 1 lane will be open during the day for car traffic towards the Afsluitdijk and 1 lane for cyclists and pedestrians in both directions. Car traffic towards Den Helder will be diverted during the day and must take into account a considerable extra travel time of up to 30 minutes at busy times. Emergency and aid services and Connexxion buses can continue to use the bridge in both directions during the day. Motorized traffic that cannot use the diversion routes, such as agricultural traffic, can use the bridge in both directions outside rush hour. Rush hours are from 07:00 to 09:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.
Follow-up work
From Saturday morning 1 March, the Kooybrug will be open to road traffic in both directions during the day. During the 3rd phase of the renovation, from 3 March to 25 April 2025, test work will be carried out at night and the bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during the week at night. The 4th and final phase will take place in May or June 2025, during which the bridge will be completely closed to all traffic for 7 consecutive days and nights. All road users must then take into account diversions and considerably extra travel time.
