Ambulance personnel provide medical deployment for coastal guard helicopter rescue flights
From 1 June 2020, Witte Kruis ambulance services will provide the Search and Rescue on the coast guard helicopter flying from Den Helder Airport. The specialized ambulance nurses (SAR Flight nurses) of Witte Kruis perform the medical services on behalf of NHV (Noordzee Helikopters Vlaanderen). This company performs search and rescue (SAR) rescue flights at sea for the Coast Guard.
White Cross medical deployment
The coastguard helicopter always has five crew members present: a captain, a co-pilot, a hoist, a rescue swimmer and an ambulance nurse (flight nurse). From 1 June 2020, the deployment of the ambulance nurse (s), the accompanying medical material, policy advice and the day-to-day management will be carried out by Witte Kruis.
Marcel van Pijkeren (Commercial director of the White Cross):
“As the largest ambulance service (more than 1000 employees) in the Netherlands, the Search and Rescue on the kiss-watch helicopter fits very well within the scope of Witte Kruis. We provide ambulance care within five safety regions in the Netherlands, including the Noord-Holland-Noord region. With our highly trained employees, extensive current medical knowledge from practice, good contacts within acute care and advanced equipment, we are able to offer a high-quality service. I am really looking forward to our collaboration with NHV. Together we want to take Search and Rescue to an even higher level. You could say that with this expansion of our medical services we are now active on land, at sea and in the air ”
